26 Weeks Post Open ❤️‍???? Heart Surgery And I'm Eating Humble Pie #tobynorthen #heartsurgery

Family and Friends, I am at 26 weeks post-open heart surgery, and I had to eat some humble pie at my 6-month follow-up cardiology appointment. I told the doctor how I have been feeling - exhausted, some pains, etc., and my wife told on me about my trip to Athens, GA, from Elizabethtown, KY (420+ miles). My doctor said this was unwise and that I should not be taking any long-distance road trips right now. Not for at least a year post-surgery. This does not mean EVERYONE will have the same recommendations, results, or experiences during or after surgery. This just my situation.
The doctor is also changing a couple of my medications, so I'll be taking a couple of meds once a day instead of two or three times a day. Lastly, regarding my chest pain, the doctor recommended taking ONE nitroglycerin pill to see if that stopped the pain. If it does stop the pain, it suggests the pain is arterial or heart-related. If it does not stop the pain, it suggests it is something other than arterial or the heart (i.e., nerve, skin, muscular, etc.). I expressed my concerns about taking nitroglycerin pills, and the doctor tried to reassure me that taking one under these circumstances has negligible impacts. Maybe we'll see. Let me know in the comments what your thoughts are about taking nitroglycerin pills.
