When she was 12 weeks pregnant, Susie Hammer was told her baby had tricuspid atresia. A cardiologist and surgeon at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center carefully explained the diagnosis to Susie and her husband, Sean, which helped them feel at ease. Baby Winter was born at Johns Hopkins and was able to go home after a short stay in the neonatal intensive care unit. As a newborn, Winter had her first of three surgeries at the Children’s Center. Now 7 years old, Winter is in school and an active gymnast. To learn more, please visit https://www.hopkinschildrens.org/heart. #pediatricheartsurgery #johnshopkinschildrenscenter
