Pierre Deharo, MD, a Cardiologist from the Service de Cardiologie at CHU Timone Hopital in Marseille, France, reviews his article appearing in the January 2026 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, where using the TriNetX Research Network, a global federated health data platform of de-identified electronic medical records from over 120 healthcare organizations, he compared patients who underwent either isolated transcatheter aortic valve replacement or surgical aortic valve replacement and found transcatheter aortic valve replacement in patients with bicuspid aortic valve stenosis was associated with higher rates of death, heart failure, and arrhythmias compared to those receiving surgical aortic valve replacement. Dr. Deharo recommends clinicians take a personal careful pre-procedural assessment to obtain best outcomes for patients. Available at: mayocl.in/4hYyFej
