A NeoBladder, sometimes called an orthotopic neobladder, is a surgically created replacement bladder made from a section of the patient's own small intestine. It is most commonly considered for patients who undergo radical cystectomy, a surgery that removes the bladder, often because of muscle-invasive bladder cancer.


Instead of living with an external urine collection bag or a urinary diversion, some patients may be candidates for a NeoBladder that allows them to pass urine through their natural urethra.
