In this video, Danai Dima, MD, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, University of Washington, Seattle, WA, presents the findings of a study investigating the incidence and management of cytopenias and infections following treatment with ciltacabtagene autoleucel (cilta-cel) in heavily pretreated patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) multiple myeloma (MM). Dr Dima notes that cytopenias and infections were common long-term complications of cilta-cel treatment and that a significant proportion of deaths were attributed to non-relapse mortality, particularly infections. This highlights the importance of developing optimized supportive care strategies to manage toxicities and improve patient outcomes. This interview took place at the 30th Congress of the European Hematology Association (EHA) in Milan, Italy.
