Ahmed Elbataa, MD, a Researcher from Al-Azhar University, in Cairo, Egypt, and the Medical Research Group of Egypt, Negida Academy, in Arlington, MA, discusses the results of his study appearing in the March 2026 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings where he looked at the risks and benefits of treating iron deficiency in patients with heart failure. He found ferric carboxymaltose showed the greatest benefit in reducing cardiovascular disease mortality or hospitalization for heart failure in patient with ischemic heart failure and in stable patients without recent hospitalization for heart failure.
