Viola knew something was wrong when her husband, Jesse, began becoming confused, irritable and started having trouble with numbers, despite being a "numbers guy". Trusting her instincts, she urged him to talk to his primary care provider.

That decision led to an MRI, and urgent neurosurgery referral, an emergency craniotomy and the diagnosis of grade 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive, cancerous, brain tumor.
