"So some parents are thinking about putting their kids in a public school for high school. Maybe they've homeschooled or they've had their child in private school in the early years. There are some things they want for their kids in high school, for example, football or prom. They want their kids to have these experiences, so they have a hard time understanding why Christian education would be important for their child for high school."

"Well, there's a number of subjects that we teach in high school we don't teach in the younger grades, wouldn't be appropriate to teach to younger kids. For example, psychology. Christian parents say, 'Well, I don't think it would harm. It's just data that's collected about people, and that's good for my kids to understand people.'"

"Well, I would like to suggest that we all have a set of beliefs and presuppositions that guide how we collect data, the kind of theories we come up with, and how we interpret data. And what we find among secular psychologists is a set of beliefs that includes a belief that God does not exist, that we cannot know truth, that humans are not as the Bible says, made with a sinful nature but they are good, essentially good, and other beliefs like this. That man cannot know truth and that God is not the author of all truth. I could go on and on, but they have many beliefs that guide how they do their research and how they interpret their research. So, their conclusions, unfortunately, though the facts may be observable facts that are correct, the kind of conclusions they come to don't necessarily align with scripture. That's why Christian education is so important! We can give students a Biblical foundation that gives them a lens to view secular research. This book helps with that, "The Rebuilding of Psychology" by Gary Collins. Also, see Focus on the Family's website for more information on this theme.
