The stigma of mental health issues in the academic environment is a reality for so many young students around the world. During my talk, I will discuss some of the many reasons why psychology shouldn’t be looked down on by our society (especially when it comes to education). I hope that my audience is inspired to use this talk to help out all who have mental illnesses. My name’s Kylie, a Senior and one of the speakers at this year’s TedxYouth event. I’ve never had much experience with public speaking before, so I thought it would be good to join this event as a way to cultivate this skill. Since I’ll study Psychology major for university, my topic will be about how we should care more about psychology and the treatment of mental diseases for adults and teenagers. I hope that this talk will help raise awareness among the audience about the significance of these overlooked domains in our everyday lives. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
