There are plans to expand the range of fields for telesurgery in Gibraltar to include gynaecology and bowel surgery.

Three prostate removal operations have been conducted remotely so far using the robotic surgery suite, with a fourth scheduled for next month.

These have been carried out by Professor Prokar Dasgupta of the London Clinic's Robotics Centre of Excellence.

Professor Dasgupta delivered a talk at St Bernard's Hospital on the future of healthcare and artificial intelligence.
