TALENTACE: TACE combined with atezolizumab + bevacizumab in uHCC

Lorenza Rimassa, MD, Hunimed University, Milan, Italy, discusses TALENTACE (NCT047126430), a positive Phase III Asian trial combining atezolizumab-bevacizumab with on-demand TACE versus TACE alone in intermediate-stage HCC. The study met its progression-free survival endpoints using both composite TACE-PFS and RECIST criteria, with higher response rates in the combination arm. While demonstrating clear benefit for high tumor burden patients, Prof. Rimassa notes important limitations, including a lack of centralized imaging review and incomplete safety data regarding treatment duration and bleeding/thrombosis risks. Overall survival data remain immature. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2025 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
