What is a Retzius-sparing Prostatectomy (RSP)?
Retzius-sparing prostatectomy (RSP) is an advanced surgical technique for prostate cancer that helps preserve urinary function and reduce post-surgery complications. Learn how this minimally invasive procedure differs from traditional prostatectomy and why it may be a better option for some patients. Watch now to understand the benefits and recovery process!
Mr Marc Laniado is an excellent Consultant Urological surgeon and the prostate cancer chairman of the prostate cancer multidisciplinary team at the HCA Princess Grace Hospital. He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of men with prostate cancer and urinary symptoms due to an enlarged prostate (BPH). He offers an individualised approach, tailoring the tests or treatments to the specific values of the man he sees. For men with urinary symptoms due to BPH, Marc Laniado advises men on lifestyle changes and medications. Where these are unsuccessful, he performs day-case procedures that alleviate urinary symptoms keeping ejaculation (UroLift, Rezum). Some men have unsuitable prostates and need a HoLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) or Aquablation, which can also preserve erections and ejaculation. Mr Laniado uses an en-bloc technique with early apical sphincter release and a Moses 2.0 holmium laser at the Princess Grace Hospital for best results.
