Arsalan Hamid, MD, a researcher from the Division of Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, Shares insights from his article appearing online in press and in the August 2025 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, where he examined the relationship between obesity and hypertension in patients with heart failure. He found that obesity and hypertension are independently associated with heart failure and hypertension in the presence of obesity significantly increased the risk of incident heart failure compared to participants with obesity alone. He notes these data highlight the impact of obesity and hypertension, and how together they are associated with a higher risk of heart failure. Dr. Hamid suggests that further research is needed to study if weight loss prevents incident heart failure. Available at: https://mayocl.in/3ERIThy
