Puneeth Iyengar, MD, PhD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, comments on the significance of cancer cachexia, a wasting syndrome affecting approximately half of patients with solid tumors. STK11 mutations, an energy-sensing gene found in 15% of non-small cell lung cancers, and GDF15, a pro-anorexia hormone, have been implicated in cachexia development. This interview took place at 2025 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in Barcelona, Spain.
