Dong-Seon Kang, MD, an Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiology, Department of Internal Medicine at Severance Cardiovascular Hospital, Yonsei University College of Medicine, in Seoul, Republic of Korea, (formerly from the Department of Cardiology, Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital in Seoul, Republic of Korea) reviews his article appearing in the April 2025 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, were he found the benefits and risks of early rhythm control in patients with atrial fibrillation and chronic kidney disease demonstrated a modest risk-benefit profile in end-stage kidney disease when compared with chronic kidney disease stage III–IV, with poor adherence to early rhythm control playing a significant role. He suggests, therefore, that an approach tailored to renal function should be considered for choosing atrial fibrillation treatment strategies. Available at: https://mayocl.in/3D7irQ6
