Before the introduction of PDE5 inhibitors in the 90s, effective er*ctile dysfunction (ED) treatments were limited. When medications like Viagra (sildenafil) hit the market, they were revolutionary, but initially restricted to urologists to prescribe. Early studies on sildenafil showed mixed results, with some papers reporting no significant benefit over placebo. The most promising outcomes—about 70% improvement—were in men who had undergone prostate surgery. For the general population, results were less impressive, with benefits ranging from 10% to 20%.
