SATURATED FAT TRUTH - FINALLY! From the College of Cardiology... #hearthealth #nutrition

Since the first US Govt Dietary Guidelines issued in 1977, we have been taught to fear dietary fat - saturated fat in particular - and to eat a low-fat, high-carb diet based around plant foods with a strong emphasis on grains. Between 1980 and 2016 adult obesity in America rose from 13% to 54%, and T2-Diabetes from 1% to 16% of adults. The food guidelines, despite being nominally "revised" from time to time (by the US Dept of Agriculture - go figure!) still strongly recommend an essentially plant-based diet high in grains and low in saturated (animal) fats.
But there is NO science whatsoever supporting the belief that saturated fats are harmful; in fact, there is evidence to suggest that a low-fat, high-carb diet itself represents an increased risk of heart disease!
In this video we discuss a paper issued by the American College of Cardiology in August 2020 (full article in link below) advising cardiologists and doctors that saturated fat is safe, and exhorting them to encourage their patients to eat full fat dairy, meat and eggs without restriction.
I also speculate in the video about reasons why, in spite of this knowledge, to this day the majority of doctors are still scaring their patients about saturated fat, and the government has failed to change its advice in line with the science.
