Percheron Therapeutics Ltd CEO Dr James Garner talked with Proactive about promising new preclinical data for the company’s investigational cancer drug, HMBD-002, showing potent activity in a model of triple-negative breast cancer.
Garner explained that the drug “substantially blocked tumor growth in mice,” describing the results as “really encouraging data” and noting that the findings point to significant potential for treating difficult-to-manage breast cancers.

The conversation also linked this development to earlier promising data in head and neck cancer. Garner highlighted that while the earlier results involved HMBD-002 in combination with radiotherapy, the new breast cancer findings relate to the drug on its own — suggesting flexibility in application.

He also noted the mechanism of HMBD-002 may go beyond immune modulation, differentiating it from existing therapies. “It may have some extra benefits beyond the immune-driven activity,” he said. This potentially positions HMBD-002 as a unique treatment option in the oncology space.

Looking ahead, Garner said that full data from the completed phase 1 human trial is expected in Q4 2025, followed by plans for phase 2 studies. “That's really where things get very exciting,” he added.
